Looking into the past to anticipate the future: Extreme climate variability in Dobrogea Region from a paleo perspective based on stable oxygen isotope in tree rings (DobrEx)

The main aim of this project is to improve our knowledge in understanding the complex mechanisms controlling the variability of the climate extremes occurring in Dobrogea region at various time scales, by developing for the first time a δ18O chronology in tree ring cellulose from the Dobrogea region and reconstruct the climatic and hydroclimatic extreme variability in the South – East of Romania, which can be used to improve our future projection regarding the occurrence of extreme events and contribute to improve the measures needed for adaptation to the drought phenomena over the region and better drought management.
